Tulsa, OK - Oral Roberts University announced today the beginning of a transition
in its Advancement Department. Laura Bishop, current Vice President of Advancement
at ORU, has accepted a position with Palm Beach Atlantic University and will be leaving
the University. The search for a new Vice President of Advancement will begin immediately.
In the interim, ORU President Dr. William M. Wilson named David Groves, General Manager
of the ORU’s Television Network GEB, to serve as Acting Vice President of Advancement.
Bishop, a graduate of ORU, was initially appointed as Vice President of Development
and Alumni Relations in 2014, and for the last 18 months served in an expanded role
as Vice President of Advancement. Bishop led ORU’s Development team during the recent
50th Anniversary celebration and $50 million capital campaign, which brought in over
$53 million to ORU. Several new buildings and structures have been constructed on
campus during these years including a new Global Learning Center, the ONEOK Sports
Complex, new intramural fields, the new apartment-style student residence Niko Njotorahardjo
Hall, and the Nursing and Engineering Center. Bishop also helped launch ORU’s newest
capital campaign called Whole Leaders for the Whole World. ORU’s Advancement Department
includes Development, Alumni Relations, Brand Management, Public Relations, Media
Production, Empowered21, University Broadcasting, Inc., and GEB.
Regarding Bishop’s tenure, President Wilson stated: “Laura has done a good job for
us at ORU and her work is deeply appreciated. I am grateful that she moved to Tulsa
from South Florida six years ago to join our executive team. While we regret to see
her return home to Florida, we know that Palm Beach Atlantic University will be blessed
by her leadership. Our prayers go with Laura, her husband David and their children
Emily and Jeremy during this transition.”
