Tulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University’s national television network, GEB, will be the host site of the National Day of Prayer Broadcast on Thursday, May 7, 2020 from 7PM to 9PM CDT.

Rather than postpone or cancel the event, organizers believe a virtual prayer gathering is even more important in the midst of a pandemic. By providing the broadcast to a variety of digital platforms, organizers believe this year’s event has the potential to become the largest prayer gathering in U.S. history – with millions praying together, individually.

“ORU and GEB are honored to host this important event and make it available virtually,” said Dr. William M. Wilson, ORU President. “Our nation desperately needs prayer and we believe God can move in miraculous ways to heal people and restore us economically and spiritually.”

Dr. Wilson will be joined by many other Christian luminaries during the National Observance Broadcast including Will Graham of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Rick Warren of Saddleback Church, United States Senators James Lankford and Chris Coons, and special music from Michael W. Smith.

The National Day of Prayer, designated by the U.S. Congress, is observed annually on the first Thursday in May and calls on people “to turn to God in prayer and meditation.”

This year’s theme, “Pray God’s Glory Across the Earth,” comes from Habakkuk 2:14, which reminds us of this promise: “for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”

“Unprecedented times call for unprecedented prayer!” said National Day of Prayer Task Force President, Kathy Branzell. “This year's ‘virtual’ National Day of Prayer Observance may have more prayer – and more ‘pray-ers’ than ever before.”

GEB can be viewed on DIRECTV channel 363, in Tulsa on KGEB TV53, as well as several other TV markets such as Orlando, Nashville, and Houston, and on ROKU, Apple TV, and AmazonFireTV.

The National Observance Broadcast will also be streamed in various ways including on Facebook.
