Day of Ringing 2018Tulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University is excited to once again take over Salvation Army Kettles at 16 locations across the city for its annual Day of Ringing on Thursday, November 14, 2019. Nearly 150 faculty, staff, and students will ring the bell in two-hour shifts throughout the day, beginning at 11:00am and ending at 5:00pm. The locations include Woodland Hills Mall, Walgreens in Utica Square, Hobby Lobby stores in Tulsa and Broken Arrow, Bass Pro Shops in Broken Arrow, and Reasor’s stores in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Jenks, and Bixby.

This is the third year ORU has adopted an entire day. Hundreds of volunteers turned out last year despite bitterly cold weather that included a little snow as well. Over the last two years, ORU has helped raised nearly $15,000 in one day.

According to the Salvation Army, volunteers are the difference between an empty kettle and one that raises as much as $30 per hour. One hour at a kettle can shelter a family for a night, provide a hot meal to ten homeless people, or provide homework tutoring to an at-risk youth.

ORU President Dr. William M. Wilson is expected to ring the bell between 3pm and 5pm at the Reasor’s at 111th and Memorial.

ORU Cheerleaders are also “Bringing Good Cheer” to the Salvation Army by collecting toys across campus, and the University will also be collecting toys as admission for its annual Christmas Concert. We encourage everyone to come celebrate “An Old English Christmas” featuring ORU Music and Drama faculty and students on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 6:00pm at the ORU Mabee Center.
