Dr. Sandra Richardson became acquainted with Oral Roberts University by ORU students
who regularly attended her local church to minister and lead worship. The seed of
their Christian witness, enthusiasm and genuine love for Christ created a deeper desire
in her to serve God as a youth.
While attending Oklahoma State University, she began ministering in local churches
throughout Oklahoma and co-founded Interdenominational Christian Fellowship, a campus
ministry that impacted the lives of hundreds of college students from various denominations
and diverse backgrounds.
While completing her master’s degree in Christian Counseling at ORU, Dr. Richardson
embraced the vision of going into every person's world with the healing power of God
and, upon graduation, began her counseling career working with diverse populations
including federal inmates, incarcerated juvenile delinquents, youth and families in
community mental health. Later, she earned a doctorate in educational leadership
and served as an administrator in various counseling, educational and criminal justice
programs.
Dr. Richardson has over 25 years of professional experience as a mental health professional,
administrator and educator. She started teaching at ORU as an adjunct professor in
2006. Prior to joining the ORU counseling faculty full time, Dr. Richardson was extensively
involved in the local community. She developed and directed the City of Tulsa’s first
juvenile assessment, booking and retaining facility that continues to serve law enforcement,
civic leaders, municipal courts, educators and families throughout Tulsa and surrounding
counties.
Her calling to teach, love for travel and heart for missions has compelled Dr. Richardson
to expand her ministry and journey internationally including India, Spain, Malaysia,
Myanmar, Bhutan, Vietnam, Costa Rica, Mexico, Thailand, Scotland and Israel. Ministering
to diverse people groups in underground churches, orphanages, villages, leprosy colonies
and multiple conferences has developed within her a greater compassion for humanity
and a global perspective of God’s heart to reach diverse cultures and nations with
God’s love and healing power.
