Dr. Nathan French is an Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible and the Ancient Near East in Graduate Theology at Oral Roberts University. He holds a Ph.D. (2018) in Hebrew Bible and ancient Near Eastern Studies from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. Between the years of 2009-2011, Dr. French lived in Jerusalem, Israel, where he completed his M.A. (2012) in Hebrew Bible and ancient Near Eastern Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. During that time, he was afforded the opportunity to learn from some of the most prominent scholars presently in the field. Under their tutelage, Dr. French studied a host of ancient languages, including Akkadian, Ugaritic, Biblical Aramaic, Egyptian, Greek, and of course, ancient Hebrew. Also, he gained invaluable knowledge of the archaeology of Jerusalem and the land of Israel, having traveled extensively throughout it. He has maintained relationships with friends in the north of Israel, in Jerusalem, and in Bethlehem. His passion in the classroom is to inspire his students to engage the study of the Hebrew Bible in its ancient Near Eastern context. His wife, Dr. Haley French, is also teaching at ORU in Graduate Theology as an Assistant Professor of Counseling. They have two sons, Ezra and Boaz.
