For many years, Dr. Germaine Mikhail has been a part of the global ORU family. After earning her B.S. of Psychology from Texas Christian University, she obtained an M.A in Marriage and Family Therapy, an M.A. in Divinity, and a Doctor of Education Leadership from Oral Roberts University. She began teaching at ORU in 2016 as an adjunct professor for the psychology and theology & ministry colleges. Dr. Mikhail is currently an assistant professor and the Christian caregiving and counseling program director.

Mikhail has 15 years of professional experience in counseling. She began her career as a marriage and family therapist working with couples in pre-engagement and pre-marital counseling in addition to affair-recovery and divorce cases. She has also worked extensively with at-risk youth helping their families develop healthy parenting skills and home environments while helping their teens establish a sense of purpose and success through developing their self-esteem and coping abilities.

Dr. Mikhail is deeply passionate about the journey of inner-healing and helping individuals resolve traumas and issues that hinder their growth. She loves seeing her clients restored to health and her students transformed into competent and differentiated professionals in their respective areas of influence. She has been trained in trauma-informed practices since 2001 and brought the same lens to her teaching approach.

Because of her international background, she is keen to bring a global perspective to her students. She loves diversity and meeting individuals from every walk of life. From this passion, she continues to practice marriage and family therapy part-time at her private practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also provides consultation on cultural awareness/sensitivity, relationships, and various global-related issues. She enjoys speaking on topics of theology and mental health. Her vision for answering the call to join the ORU faculty is to train her students to skillfully and seamlessly integrate faith and mental health issues from a culturally competent and sound theological perspective.
