Dr. Todd Farmer brings a diverse background of academic experience to Oral Roberts University. He has worked at both the K-12 and university levels. Dr. Farmer comes to ORU after five years of working at Langston University where he was widely recognized for excellence in teaching, research and service. As a professor at Langston University, Dr. Farmer was known for engaging students in conference presentations. Dr. Farmer was the chair of the Physical Education, Sport, and Recreation department.

He was awarded, 2018 Higher Education Physical Education Professor of the Year. Dr. Farmer was Picked as a “Mentor” by the Dean of Education Concordia University, and was a “National Faculty Member” for American College of Education.

In the classroom, students encounter Dr. Farmer’s passion for integrating his faith in Jesus and the leading of the Holy Spirit into every area of their lives. In the realm of sport management, Dr. Farmer teaches students to use their athletic abilities for the glory of God. Students often praise Dr. Farmer for his passionate commitment to push them toward excellence and the fulfillment of their potential. Dr. Farmer’s research focuses on leadership in sport. His scholarship has been published in outlets such as the OAHPERD and KAHPERD journals. In his current research, Dr. Farmer is exploring the role of leadership in the sport industry. Dr. Farmer earned his B.S. in Physical Education, Health, and Coaching, his M.A. in Education, and his EdD. in Educational Leadership from University of Phoenix. He also earned an endorsement to be a K-8 Principal from Wayne State College.

Dr. Farmer is excited to work in a Spirit Empowered University where he can openly share his faith with other faculty and students. He gives God all the glory for the gifts he has been given and is so thankful that the faculty and staff have allowed him to come teach at ORU. Go Eagles!!
