Michael Piper comes to the College of Science and Engineering with over 10 years of industry experience in athletics. Mr. Piper distinguished himself in coaching and teaching with Tulsa Public Schools with multiple awards for superior performance, leadership, and goal attainment.
As the youngest student admitted into ORU's Doctoral of Strategic Leadership program, Mr. Piper will graduate with his Ph.D. in May 2026, after already earning both a B.S. and a M.S. degree in Sports Management from ORU. During his years of academic experience, Mr. Piper has served in leadership roles in his sound engineering company, Piper Media, and in multiple assessment and accreditation initiatives. As Head Coach of Nathan Hale, he assumed responsibility for formulating a comprehensive assessment approach to change the outlook and mindset of all his players.
As an ORU graduate, Mr. Piper's core values have led him to focus on developing Spirit-empowered leaders with Christ-like character. He loves challenging students to live their faith and hear God's voice in their chosen professions. His most recent work centers on building the Health, Leisure, and Sport Sciences department's Sports Management program.
