Dr. Evie Muilenburg-Trevino is an associate professor in the Behavioral Sciences Department at Oral Roberts University. With 18 years of experience as a senior researcher, she brings a wealth of expertise to her role. As a quantitative psychologist, her areas of specialization include research and evaluation, the science of hope, positive psychology and human flourishing, nonprofit organizations, and church wellbeing. Dr. Trevino teaches courses in experimental psychology, research design, hope, positive psychology, and senior paper, and oversees the internship program that provides students with hands-on experience in research and clinical settings.
Dr. Muilenburg-Trevino is passionate about teaching and mentoring. She helps students build a strong foundation in both theory and research practice while guiding them to thoughtfully integrate their faith into their academic and professional pursuits. Her goal is to help students gain a deep understanding of experimental methods and research design, providing them with the tools and confidence to engage with research literature and apply those skills in future endeavors. She also teaches seminar courses on Positive Psychology and Hope, where students explore the science of human flourishing and learn practical ways to cultivate it in their own lives, communities, and future work.
She also conducts outcomes research with organizations across the U.S., assessing hope as a mechanism of change with the goal of promoting human flourishing. Through her work with schools, nonprofits, and businesses nationwide, Dr. Muilenburg-Trevino translates the science of hope into practical strategy, equipping teams and organizations to foster cultures of hope that transform aspirations into achievements and lead to greater human flourishing.
Dr. Muilenburg-Trevino holds a B.A. in Psychology from Oral Roberts University, a Master of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a specialization in research, evaluation, measurement, and statistics from Oklahoma State University.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Muilenburg-Trevino enjoys spending time with her husband, Jess, and their three children. She loves watching her kids play piano and participate in sports. Her family is actively involved in their church, where she serves in the foster and adoptive ministry and works with youth. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and making memories with her family.
