Dr. Darius Kirk is an esteemed educator with a passion for provoking change in education.
He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from Langston University
and went on to complete postgraduate work at New York University in Education Leadership
and Harvard University's Graduate School of Education in School Turnaround. Dr. Kirk's
dedication to learning and educational leadership led him to earn an Educational Specialist
Degree from Webster University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Alverno
College.
With over twenty-three years of experience in urban education, Dr. Kirk has made a
significant impact within the lives of students and educators alike. He began his
career as a teacher in the Tulsa Public Schools, where he honed his skills and developed
a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students and teachers. After eight
years in the classroom, Dr. Kirk transitioned into administration, serving in various
leadership roles within the Tulsa Public School, Riverview Garden School District,
and KIPP. Currently, Dr. Kirk is an Assistant Professor for the Undergraduate Department
in the College of Education at ORU. In addition, he serves the PAVE Department as
an Academic Coach.
Dr. Kirk is a two-time presenter at the International Model Schools Conference and
a Top 40 under 40 Leaders in the city of Saint Louis. In 2016, he was presented with
the Prestigious Monsanto School of Excellence Award. Dr. Kirk has also been recognized
by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon for having the Most Improved School in the state of
Missouri. Dr. Kirk is a visionary educational leader, an advocate for change, and
a role model for educators. His ongoing research concerning leadership, his vast experience,
and dedication to lifelong learning make him an asset to this community.
