Dr. Rebecca Dian Webster brings a wealth of experience and education in the teaching and counseling field to Oral Roberts University. Having begun her teaching career in 1993 in elementary education, Dr. Webster gained experience and wisdom from working with children in the public school setting. She holds a M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling and a B.S. in Elementary Education, from University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, OK. Experience and education moved her forward to earn a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University, Virginia Beach, VA and a MA in Theological Studies from Southwestern Christian University, Bethany, OK.
With her background in theology, education, and counseling, Dr. Webster passionately
integrates faith, developmental stages, and learning styles into the classroom. She
knows that each of these can have an impact on student learning and communication.
Dr. Webster recognizes the importance of empowering students work with diverse populations
and in various settings. Students learn to lean in and listen for the direction of
the Holy Spirit when making decisions for themselves and working with clients.
Dr. Webster brings her expertise in classroom, clinical, and leadership settings to
ORU. She is a Licensed Professional Counseling and Board-Approved Supervisor in the
state of Oklahoma. Retiring from public school as an educator and school counselor,
she brings with her decades of teaching and counseling experience in both public schools
and in the private sector. In addition to teaching, Dr. Webster founded and operated
a private counseling practice in Harrah where she specialized in anxiety disorders,
depression, trauma, and grief. Her leadership experience is showcased in her service
as past-president of Oklahoma Mental Health Counseling Association (OKMHCA) and member
of their board for 9 years, Dr. Webster also serves as a member of various state and
national counseling organizations. Her decades of experience and dedication in the
industry are a valuable asset in the classroom at ORU.
Dr. Webster has written and published on media violence and middle school children,
workings of the Holy Spirit, active learning, and maltreatment of institutionalized
children. Her research interest include: trauma, human development, grief and loss,
and identity and the imago Dei.
Dr. Webster is happily married to Clifford Webster, and together they have 2 children
and 5 grandchildren.
