Tulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University has purchased from Victory Tulsa the buildings
and seven acres on the southwest corner of 81st and Delaware. ORU plans to begin remodeling
the main 100,000-square-foot building and the adjacent 14,000-square-foot warehouse
immediately into a multi-purpose complex that will house Nursing, Engineering, Health
Sciences, Counseling Services, ORU’s Online operations team, and the golf team. The
new facility is expected to open later this year.
“With ten years of steady enrollment growth, the time is now for several of our colleges to expand,” said ORU President Dr. William M. Wilson. “This provides us the opportunity to grow the Anna Vaughn College of Nursing—ORU’s top-notch program that boasts a 100% job placement rate—as well as the School of Engineering, which recently advanced to the final rounds of a competition sponsored by SpaceX about the future of public transportation. The transition of these programs will also free up needed space for other programs at ORU.”
The newly remodeled building will provide the space needed for ORU’s Online enrollment team, which continues to grow, as well as new offices and indoor practice facilities for the ORU golf team.
Because the building is across from campus on a very busy 81st street, the University will offer a regularly scheduled shuttle throughout the day. ORU will also add decorative fencing to ensure the safety of students.
“This is a great time to be a student at ORU,” said Wilson. “In the past five years ORU has cut the ribbon on the award-winning Global Learning Center, the ONEOK Sports Complex, an Intramural Sports Park, and will open its first new dorm since 1976 this fall!”
