Dr. Clarence BoydTulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University announced today the appointment of Dr. Clarence Boyd Jr. as the University’s Vice President of Student Life. Boyd has been a well-loved and respected presence on the ORU campus for 40 years, most recently serving as the Dean of Spiritual Formation.

“The University received applications from across the nation with numerous viable candidates. The Board of Trustees Student Affairs Committees and other University stakeholders participated in the process and it ultimately became clear that God was directing us to one of our own.” said ORU President Dr. William M. Wilson. “We believe Clarence Boyd is the perfect choice for this role because of his passion for ORU students and their success. Dr. Boyd brings with him a long history at ORU but also a clear vision for the future.”

Boyd came to ORU in 1973 as a student, graduating four years later with a degree in Theology and Social Work. He later went on to earn his Masters of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry. He has served in a number of capacities, including Dorm Director, Dean of Student Development, and Campus Chaplain.

“I love ORU and its mission. It’s been an integral part of my life,” said Boyd. “Now I look forward to serving in this new leadership role helping ORU students prepare to go into every person’s world with God’s healing. I am thoroughly excited.”

Boyd will be responsible for the overall administration of student life. He will collaborate with students, faculty and staff to create an environment that will enhance the students’ personal lives and expand their understanding of life-long learning through faith, service and community.

Boyd is married to Dr. Kim Boyd who serves as the University’s Dean of the College of Education. Together they have four children who all attended ORU.
