ORU Professor Awarded Grant to Widen Research Opportunities

Dr. Joel Gaikwad, associate professor of biology, was awarded a Research Opportunity Grant as part of the National Institutes of Health's IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence program. According to their Web site the INBRE "promote the development, coordination, and sharing of research resources and expertise that will expand the research opportunities and increase the number of competitive investigators in the IDeA-eligible states." Dr. Gaikwad will be working with Dr. Mark Coggeshall at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City. The title of his project is "The Modulation of Apoptogenic and Extracellular Signalling Pathways by Carvacrol" and the award amount is $10,000 for salary and minor supplies.
