NHCLC and ORU Partner to Reach and Equip the Next Generation of Hispanic Evangelicals
The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) has announced a new
partnership with Oral Roberts University (ORU) to reach the next generation of Hispanic
Evangelicals and equip them to lead in both ministry and the public square.
The partnership will increase ORU’s outreach of Hispanic and Latino students through
NHCLC’s extensive network of churches across the U.S. and Latin America.
“As research has shown, Hispanics and Latinos are the fastest-growing group among
Evangelicals in the United States. As such, we have the potential to change our nation
and the world, and there’s no better institution to train them to do so than Oral
Roberts University,” said Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of NHCLC.
“Oral Roberts University has always been the Spirit-empowered school of choice for
Hispanic evangelicals, and we are thrilled to be partnering with this premier Christian
University,” he added. “The whole person education that students receive at the university
— guided by the Spirit — equips them to go out into the world and be catalytic leaders
who pursue the Lamb’s agenda in whatever field of work they enter.”
With more than 40,000 member churches, the NHCLC represents the largest group of Evangelical
Hispanic and Latino congregations in the world. The conference is guided by three
principal directives: life, biblical justice, and religious liberty. NHCLC’s partnership
with ORU will fall under its biblical justice directive, specifically the NHCLC’s
Faith and Education Coalition (FEC), which will make ORU the senior, Spirit-empowered
educational sponsor of the NHCLC.
From 2019 to 2021, the NHCLC and its international arm, NHCLC Global, will promote,
present and highlight ORU exclusively as the school of choice for the entire Hispanic
and Latino Christian community in America and abroad.
Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ORU offers more than 77 undergraduate majors and 65 undergraduate
minors, as well as 14 master's-level programs and three doctoral degrees. Faculty
members educated at the nation's top graduate schools serve as academic, professional,
and spiritual mentors to students who represent all 50 U.S. states and 114 nations.
“The Hispanic and Latino communities are a vital part of ORU’s mission to develop
Holy Spirit-empowered leaders through whole person education to impact the world,”
said Dr. William M. Wilson, ORU President. “We are honored to be selected as the Christian
University of choice in Latin America. ORU has the best professors and programs, cutting-edge
technology, and a culture that is spiritually alive, all of which allow us to develop
whole leaders for the whole world.”
The partnership will give ORU students, faculty and staff access to all NHCLC chapter
events, exposing ORU to tens of thousands of attendees and potential students every
year. Additionally, ORU will be featured at both the annual NHCLC board convention
and the Pastors and Leaders’ Conference.
Additionally, ORU will participate in the NHCLC’s Education Summit featuring approximately
120 leaders from various colleges and universities. This event will be held on the
ORU campus with a date to be announced soon.
