When:   Saturday, April 1, 2017 9am-3pm
Where: ORU Global Learning Center

Tulsa, OK – Whether it’s an off-shore rig exploding or the Chinese conducting military exercises on an off-shore island, a global crisis is expected to take place in virtual reality at the Oral Roberts University Global Learning Center Saturday, April 1, 2017. It’s part of the ORU History, Humanities and Government department’s plan to train its students in International Relations during crisis and conflict.

College and high school students from ORU, the University of Tulsa, Northeastern State University and Booker T. Washington will participate in the exercise that begins at 9am and ends at 3pm. The students will be placed in teams representing the heads of state for seven countries and the United Nations Security Council. After the worldwide crisis takes place in the virtual reality room, the students will be required to use their diplomatic and problem-solving skills as well as their general knowledge of international affairs to solve the crisis. They will also prepare news releases, speeches and conduct multilateral negotiations.

“ORU is excited to use its iCatcher and iCube to simulate the crisis and make the experience as real as possible for the students,” says Michael Mathews, ORU’s Associate Vice President of Technology and Innovation. ORU will also connect students with International Lawyer and ORU Alum Patricia Apy through its zoom technology.

Those interested in attending, should contact Stephanie Hill as early as possible since the event is scheduled for Saturday.
