ORU Baseball Team Receives High Honors

The Oral Roberts University baseball team won big this year as they were named the 2009 NCAA Division I statistical champion for strikeouts per nine innings. The team led the nation in pitching the highest average of strikeouts for a regular game of nine innings.

"It means a lot for our program to be ranked among the best in the nation, whether it's a Top 25 poll or statistical rankings," baseball head coach Rob Walton said. "Our pitchers did a great job for us last year, and I'm happy for them."
