Oral Roberts University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program is a hybrid program with much of the didactic content completed online. There are on-campus residency requirements most semesters. As part of the esteemed Anna Vaughn School of Nursing, this post-bachelor's program consists of a Family Nurse Practitioner track that specifically targets BSN RNs who will have completed at least 2,000 hours of professional nursing practice prior to enrollment in year two of the program. Your education is enhanced by community preceptors that can be either physicians or nurse practitioners. Preceptors will guide your learning in specialty environments (women’s health and pediatrics) and family medicine. The FNP track should prepare you well to successfully complete the Family Nurse Practitioner certification exam.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree is a practice-oriented degree that prepares you to test research findings in clinical practice settings and translate that data into evidence-based practice. Our unique mission to develop Spirit-empowered leaders is incorporated into all we do and will enable you to improve your healthcare practice through evidence-based research. The DNP hydrid program will teach you current technologies and practices that enhance nursing knowledge and patient education.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Oral Roberts University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).
The Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is the accrediting body for
the undergraduate program. ORU Online is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission
(HLC) and utilizes the same world-class curriculum as traditional courses.
Oral Roberts University is an NC-SARA (National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements) participating university. “SARA is an agreement among member states, districts and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate offering of postsecondary distance education” (nc-sara.org).
While we would love to admit students from all 50 states, we must abide by each state’s Board of Nursing (BON) educational requirements for advanced practice nurse licensure upon graduation from a distance learning program.
