Artist Tyler Ramsey Showcases Artwork to ORU Students
Noted artist Tyler Ramsey met with Oral Roberts University art and graphic design students to showcase a series of paintings he created for the new Armand Hammer Alumni-Student Center. The series is titled “The Brave” after Ramsey drew inspiration from the thought of ORU as a breeding ground for warriors that will march into the world and make it better.
Students were able to witness the installation of the paintings first-hand as Ramsey guided them on a tour of the new facility. They started in a living room area on the ground floor where the first two paintings in the series are located. These two pieces represent ORU students as adventurers that are looking for ways to impact the world.
The next painting in the series is located at the top of the stairs on the second floor of the building and depicts students as sailboats moving to achieve their goals and dreams.
The final piece is located in the alumni dining room on the second floor of the student center. This piece features an arrow that represents alumni sending students off into the world and working together to become an amazing source of good.
Ramsey was born in San Francisco, but lived in Oklahoma City until second grade. After that, he moved to Tulsa where he lived until 1996. He currently resides in Los Angeles and is best known for his work with Toms Shoes.
The all-new Armand Hammer Alumni-Student Center will be dedicated on February 1, 2013 during ORU’s weekly Chapel service. A ribbon cutting ceremony will immediately follow the dedication on the west side of the Hammer Center at approximately 12:15 p.m. For more information, please visit www.hammercenter.org.
