Program Description

The ORU MASST Scholarship Program seeks to encourage talented STEM majors to become secondary (grades 6-12) mathematics and science teachers. The program supports students who complete a STEM degree and complete the requirements of the ORU Professional Education program to become certified and licensed to teach in Oklahoma for secondary mathematics or science. Ideal candidates demonstrate mathematics and science academic success and commitment to support mathematics or science education activities. The program will support at least 26 Scholars in their pursuit of a STEM degree.

  • Up to $26,000 in scholarship paid out over two academic years
  • Reimbursement for passing the OSAT and OPTE exams (a $345 value)
  • Reimbursement of OK teacher licensure fee (a $50 value)
  • Paid membership in the professional teacher’s organization, NCTM or NSTA (a $25 value)
  • Paid expenses to attend a professional conference (up to $2000 for travel and fees)
  • Mentored during first year of teaching by Master Teachers within school district
  • Professional Development experiences with the MASST Program
Eligibility Requirements
  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. permanent resident
  • Be a junior or senior in a STEM major
  • Minimum 3.00 GPA in STEM and overall
  • Pass OGET
  • Successfully complete the MASST Internship
  • Agree to fulfill contract to teach for two years in a high-needs school for every year of scholarship received
