Job Description
- Full Time

PRIMARY FUNCTION: This hourly position is responsible for creating editorial products within the External Affairs team deployed in press releases, social media, web, print, and other media channels.  The tasks will utilize keyword optimization and research for web site traffic. Will work with Social Media Specialist on some content posting.  Content curation and creation is performed under the direction of the Vice President of External Affairs in alignment with University message themes.  The Content Specialist is a key component of External Affairs, providing input and deliverables for the various communication campaigns and other efforts performed by the Office.  The position requires knowledge and expertise in strategic planning and document production.  The ability to articulate the benefits of an ORU educational experience is vital.  The tasks require knowledge in researching, strong writing skills, excellent grammatical skills, the capacity to produce clean copy, under pressure and meet timelines.  It is essential that the person in this post is collaborative, diligent, eager to learn new processes and able to maintain positive relationships with students, staff, faculty and University stakeholders.


  •  Write effective content for the various projects performed by External Affairs: press releases, social media accounts, internal releases, web pages, strategic plans, and scripts as needed. 
  • Support projects related to ORU marketing. 
  • Assist SEO strategies with content support.
  • Work with Social Media Specialist on content posting.  
  • Assist in procurement of additional communication platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requires bachelor degree, preferred in Communications, Marketing or General Business.


Requires high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

Must maintain a high level of confidentiality of information.  

Maintains compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policy and its' procedures.
