We’re committed to making a Spirit-empowered degree from ORU accessible and affordable. That’s why nearly 100% of our full-time undergraduate students receive scholarships and grants from ORU. 

The following list of 2019-2020 scholarships and grants are for incoming, on-campus freshmen and transfer students who are enrolled full-time (12-18 credit hours per semester). All awards are subject to change, and the combined total of all ORU grants and scholarships may not exceed 100% of tuition. Other expenses such as room and board may be funded with outside scholarships, federal aid and/or private funds. Premier Scholarships


Quest Whole Leader Scholarship 

Up to 100% tuition coverage per year 
Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen and transfer students who participate in a Quest Leadership Weekend event and enroll full-time in an ORU undergraduate, residential program. RSVP for an upcoming event at quest.oru.edu/rsvp.
Recipients must maintain a satisfactory Whole Person Assessment score and GPA while remaining in good standing with ORU.

Honors Program Fellowship

Up to $20,000 per year
Consideration for this award requires a minimum ACT score of 31 or SAT score of 1410, minimum 3.5 GPA, letters of recommendation, and a Fellows Application. demonstrated service leadership; letters of recommendation. Candidates must apply for this scholarship by February 1 (December 1 is the priority application deadline). To access the application, visit honors.oru.edu.
Recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and remain in good standing with the Honors Program to be considered for renewal.

Freshmen Academic Scholarships

  • Tier 1 Academic Scholarship $13,000 per year
    4.00 Cumulative GPA and 28 ACT or 1300 – 1320 SAT (or old SAT of 1250 – 1280, math and reading only)
    3.75 Cumulative GPA and 30 ACT or 1360 – 1380 SAT (or old SAT of 1330 -1350, math and reading only)
    3.50 Cumulative GPA and 32 ACT or 1420 – 1440 SAT (or old SAT of 1400 - 1430, math and reading)
    This scholarship requires a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for renewal. Cumulative GPA will be evaluated for renewal purposes after the spring semester.
  • Tier 2 Academic Scholarship $11,000 per year
    3.75 Cumulative GPA and 23 ACT or 1130 – 1150 SAT (or old SAT of 1050 - 1080 , math and reading only)
    3.50 Cumulative GPA and 25 ACT or 1200 – 1220 SAT (or old SAT of 1130 - 1160, math and reading only)
    3.25 Cumulative GPA and 28 ACT or 1300 – 1320 SAT (or old SAT of 1250 - 1280, math and reading only)
    This scholarship requires a cumulative GPA of 2.75 for renewal. Cumulative GPA will be evaluated for renewal purposes after the spring semester. 
  • Tier 3 Academic Scholarship $10,000 per year
    3.25 Cumulative GPA and 20 ACT or 1030 – 1050 SAT (or old SAT of 940 - 970, math and reading only)
    3.00 Cumulative GPA and 22 ACT or 1100 – 1120 SAT (or old SAT of 1020 - 1040, math and reading only)
    2.80 Cumulative GPA and 24 ACT or 1160 – 1190 SAT (or old SAT of 1090 - 1120, math and reading only)
    This scholarship requires a cumulative GPA of 2.5 for renewal. Cumulative GPA will be evaluated for renewal purposes after the spring semester. 
  • Tier 4 Academic Scholarship $8,000 per year
    Amount will be contingent upon comprehensive review of your admissions file. This scholarship requires a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for renewal. Cumulative GPA will be evaluated for renewal purposes after the spring semester.
  • Tier 5 Academic Scholarship $6,000 per year
    Amount will be contingent upon comprehensive review of your admissions file. This scholarship requires a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for renewal. Cumulative GPA will be evaluated for renewal purposes after the spring semester.

Note: If you have not met the renewal criteria you will be given the option to enroll in residential summer classes in order to raise your GPA. If you have met or exceeded the renewal GPA your scholarship will automatically renew on your Vision account. Scholarship amounts are final and do not increase according to earned GPA or hours.

Legacy Grant

$3,000 for on-campus students /$1,500 for off-campus students.
This award is available to children of ORU alumni. To ensure that this award is included in your financial aid package, please contact your Enrollment Counselor at 918.495.6518 or mark your parent(s) as ORU alumni when completing ORU's Application for Admission at apply.oru.edu. 

Talent Scholarships

  • Art Talent Scholarship $500-$2,000 per year To be eligible for this award, students must first audition. Auditions take place during Quest Whole Person Scholarship events and College Weekend. Please visit oru.edu/talent to request a time to audition. 
  • Dance Talent Scholarship $500-$2,000 per year To be eligible for this award, students must first audition. Auditions take place during Quest Whole Person Scholarship events and College Weekend. Please visit oru.edu/talent to request a time to audition. 
  • Drama Talent Scholarship $500-$2,000 per year To be eligible for this award, students must first audition. Auditions take place during Quest Whole Person Scholarship events and College Weekend. Please visit oru.edu/talent to request a time to audition. 
  • Music Talent Scholarship $500-$2,000 per year To be eligible for this award, students must first audition. Auditions take place during Quest Whole Person Scholarship events and College Weekend. Please visit oru.edu/talent to request a time to audition.

First Robotics Scholarship

First Robotics Scholarship $1,000 This award is offered to Chinese students who have competed in a FirstRobotics Challenge (FRC) and are applying to ORU for an Engineering program. This scholarship is in addition to all other scholarships that a student is eligible to apply for. For more information, click here.

State and Federal Aid

ORU also participates in state and federal aid programs that provide grants and student loans to qualifying students (U.S. Citizens only). To qualify, you’ll need to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is a government form used to determine if you qualify for federal aid. You can submit your FAFSA at fafsa.gov as early as October 1 the year before you plan on enrolling in classes! Even if you don’t think you’ll qualify for federal aid, you’ll want to complete the FAFSA using ORU’s school code (003985) so you can receive a personalized financial aid.

Scholarships for Freshmen - Seniors

Air Force ROTC - By agreement with the United States Air Force, eligible full-time students at Oral Roberts University may participate in Air Force ROTC (AFROTC) and receive an officer’s commission in the Air Force upon graduation.

The Blake Family Foundation Scholarship
Deadline: May 15
Preference for this scholarship is given to students from Maranatha Academy or Eastern Kansas Christian Schools in Shawnee, Kansas. 

Thelma Schottin Scholarship
Deadline: May 15

This scholarship is to provide financial support for a student who is a child or grandchild of missionaries in foreign countries. Student must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have financial need. 

Radical Art for Jesus Gloria B Scholarship
Deadline: May 15

This scholarship is for art majors who demonstrate financial need.

Fred & Eveyln Armitage Scholarship 
Deadline: May 15
This scholarship is to provide financial support for an on-campus student who has financial need. Student must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Jonas B. Nyberg Memorial Scholarship 
Deadline: May 15
This scholarship is for students seeking a degree in Evangelism or Communication. Click here to review the instructions prior to completing the application.

The Marilyn Bonebrake LaPointe/Debate and Forensic Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to students who are part of the ORU Debate team. It is contingent upon being enrolled in COM 400-Debate as well as maintaining a minimum GPA requirement. Students interested in this scholarship may contact Dr. Agena Farmer at afarmer@oru.edu.

Margaret L. Lesher Foundation Scholarship 
Deadline: May 15
This scholarship is for a full time print or broadcast journalism major who demonstrates financial need. 

Reverend Peter Popoff Scholarship
Deadline: April 30 
This scholarship provides financial support for Oral Roberts University students whose academic pursuits are preparing them to serve God in vocational pastoral ministry or missions ministry. 

Scholarships for Sophomores - Seniors

Helen Scott Murphy Memorial 
Deadline: May 15
This scholarship is for students who demonstrate financial need and outstanding leadership and academic ability. They must also be in the top 20% of their class. 

T.C. and Bee Hatfield Scholarship 
Deadline: May 15
This scholarship is for students who demonstrate financial need and outstanding leadership and academic ability. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.75. 

Scholarships for Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students

Suzanne M. Behr Scholarship Program 
Deadline: May 15
This scholarship is for junior or senior female students who have financial need. The applicant must be willing to join an ORU women's mentoring program if one exists or a program that would hold her accountable for her personal spiritual walk. The scholarship award is $1,500 per semester.  

Jack Greer Memorial Scholarship 
Deadline: May 15
This scholarship provides financial support for a school of business student who has a strong Christian commitment has a Love for Jesus Christ and is actively involved and serving. Student must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Financial Aid Guide - This guide answers common questions for minorities, students with disabilities and military/veterans; as well as includes a comprehensive scholarship database and step-by-step guide to the FAFSA. 

“Paying for College: Student Resource Guide” - A collection of scholarship, fellowship, and internship listings and their deadlines. Includes a list of suggested scholarship websites and suggested books for research. Many opportunities for Hispanic and other minority applicants. 

Studentaid.ed.gov Scholarships and Grants - A comprehensive resource for private scholarships, scholarship searches, and government grants. 

The Carl's Jr. Founders Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to High School seniors or graduates 21 years or younger who are seeking education at an accredited two- or four-year college of their choice. 

The Carson Scholars Fund - A program that awards $1000 college scholarships to students in grades 4-11; when used at ORU, ORU matches the Carson Scholarship.    

The Daniels Fund Scholarship Program - This scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors who are residents of Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Utah. 

The Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway - This program offers tuition giveaways ranging from $2,500 to $100,000 for college students who are at least 18 years old. 

The Gates Millennium Scholars Program - This scholarship program is for outstanding minority students. The good-through-graduation scholarship is awarded to 1,000 talented students to use at the college or university of their choice.  Eight current ORU students are Gates Millennium Scholars. 

The Jackie Robinson Foundation -  This foundation awards four-year scholarships of up to $7,500 to graduating, minority high school seniors. The scholarship is to be used at an accredited university of the student's choice and may be used for tuition, books, housing, etc. 

The Nursing Scholarship Program - This scholarship is for all students enrolled in an accredited nursing program. In exchange for a minimum 2-year service commitment at a health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses, the scholarship will pay for tuition, general fees, books, and will grant you a monthly stipend. 

The Quest Whole Leader Scholarship, Need-based Fund for Single Parents - This need-based fund is available for single parents at ORU. 

The RMHC/HACER Scholarship Program - A program that supports Hispanic students in pursuit of their college education; annually, four $100,000 awards are made in addition to many other awards.  

The StorageMart ScholarSmarts Scholarship Program - This scholarship is awarded to all students in pursuit of higher education to be used for tuition, books, housing, and more.
