Program Overview

 Oral Roberts University offers the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Convergence Journalism so that you may be equipped as a Holy Spirit-empowered professional in the rapidly changing media industry. You’ll finish your degree with a broad set of skills confidently prepared to enter the competitive media industry and lead in the exciting field of journalism!

You will learn how to gather information and produce it for a variety of media platforms, from print publications, such as newspapers and magazines, to broadcast outlets on television, radio and internet. Today’s workforce requires journalists to be flexible and proficient in each medium. You’ll focus on the best of theory and hands-on learning opportunities that enable you to succeed in meeting fast-paced deadlines while maintaining accuracy and ethical standards.

As a student with us, you’ll experience extensive hands-on projects to develop your desired journalistic path.

You will develop competencies working on projects such as reporting and writing news and feature stories that meet professional requirements; producing radio and television broadcasts that reach live audiences beyond campus; publishing a newspaper and magazine that serves the ORU community; and developing online breaking news for 24/7 delivery on the Web. Expansive on-campus opportunities are available to you by joining one of ORU’s media outlets: the Oracle, our student newspaper; the Perihelion, our yearbook; or the online radio station, KORU. Are there scholarships available?
