What makes ORU’s English Literature program stand out?
Besides the academic focus of the degree, there are opportunities to enjoy like-minded classmates during the annual fall Walden Weekend retreat held in the natural beauty of the eastern Oklahoma woods. We encourage your creative expansion by joining the English Club which meets periodically for poetry readings and various social events. There is also ORU’s literary magazine, the Promethia, that showcases the university’s finest poetry, short stories and black-and-white photography created by our own community.
We are proud to have a chapter of The C.S. Lewis and the Inklings Society which hosts academic conferences, Tolkienfest and many social events throughout the year. ORU is also honored to host Sigma Tau Delta , the international English Honor Society. The central purpose is to confer distinction upon outstanding students of the English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate and professional studies.
